    • If my builder determines there is a problem with my home, will I have to pay to have it fixed?
      • If your builder determines a construction defect, you and your builder will work together to determine how the correction is paid for. If the correction is covered under one of the warranted components, you will be advised to contact the proper warranty company for service.
    • If my problem is not covered under my warranty, what are my options?
      • If the problem is not covered under the warranty, the homeowner should assume the costs to fix the problem.
    • I contacted my builder, but they weren’t helpful. What do I do next?
      • If you are still having trouble resolving your issue, please feel encouraged to reach out to the NVHBA for assistance. You also have the option to file a complaint with the Nevada State Contractor’s Board, which is the licensing agency for builders and subcontractors.  The Board will open an investigation and work with you and the contractor to resolve any validated issues.  If the contractor is unable to correct the issues, you may be eligible for financial recourse up to $35,000 through the Board’s Residential Recovery Fund.
    • I am not the original owner of my home. Can I still file a complaint about a construction problem?
      • Yes, you can. The important thing is to determine is if the problem is covered under Chapter 40. You can contact your builder to find out more information about when your home was built and if your problems are covered.
    • I do not know when my home was built. How can I find that out?
      • If you don’t know when your home was built, the best thing to do is to contact your builder.
    • I do not know who built my home. Where can I search for that information?
      • The most direct way to find your builder is to contact your local building or planning department. They are required to keep that information on file for 10 years and are able to look up the homebuilder by your home’s address.
    • My builder is no longer in business.
      • If your builder is no longer in business, contact the NVHBA for more assistance.
  • I’ve read through the information on your website, but I still have a question. Who do I contact?
